We do class 4 MOT tests and servicing for all makes and models of car. We can make sure that your car is maintained and is safe to be on the roads. Our customers are our number one priority, so when we work on your car you can expect a high standard of workmanship and excellent customer service.
Legally, you’re required to put your car through an MOT test every year if it’s three years or older. We have approved MOT testers and a dedicated testing bay to carry out the MOT for you. We have a comfortable waiting area with free wi-fi for customer use, if you wish to wait while we do the test. It takes around an hour to complete and at the end, we’ll let you know if you’ve passed or failed. We’ll check your emission levels, brakes, steering, tyres, wheels, engine and various electrical components. We’re inspecting to make sure that they are safe to use and meet the legal standards set out by the DVSA.
If you fail then we can do all the MOT repair work and re-test your vehicle. We’ll do our best to keep the costs down for you, whilst getting your vehicle to a safe and legal level to use on the road.
We offer a competitive MOT price, and if you book it at the same time as your service, we can check your vehicle before the test to make sure it passes.
Maintaining your car helps to keep you safe on the road and ensure your car is in proper working order. If you service your car regularly then you are less likely to run into any problems.
We offer three levels of car servicing – interim, full and major. With all levels, you can be assured that we’ll change your oil and filters and check the condition of your tyres and brakes. An interim service should be done every 5,000 miles or six months. This allows us to cover all the basics, which is important if you’re driving a lot of miles.
A full service is normally conducted annually or every 12,000 miles. It’s common to have this service done at the same time as your MOT to save money and time. We’ll do a full inspection of your car to make sure all the major parts are in working order. We’ll replace parts if necessary and it allows us to check for any potential problems.
A major service is needed every two years, or 24,000 miles in order for us to check longer lasting components. It’s a good way to find out what condition your car is in and replace parts which are not often serviced, like your spark plugs.
It’s easy to book your MOT and service with Tynecastle Garage. We’re open six days a week and our online booking system is available 24/7. Through this, you can check prices, available appointments and book a slot that suits you.
